Sunday NCAA Free Picks: Miami Hurricanes at Boston College Eagles
Sunday, January 29, 2012
by Joe Rodriguez
If Miami Hurricanes is to get back in the ACC race, it has to win more games on the road. Miami won its first league road game Tuesday at Georgia Tech and only its second of seven overall.
Miami goes for two straight when it visits Boston College Eagles Sunday. The Hurricanes have six of their final 10 games at home, but must get this one against the young Eagles.
Boston College won't be easy to push aside. Boston College beat both Virginia Tech and Clemson at the Conte Forum to start the ACC season 2-1 before dropping its last three. Miami has won two of three and should have an advantage on the perimeter.

Justbet Sportsbook currently have the Hurricanes listed as 8½-point favorites versus the Eagles.
Miami Hurricanes (11-7): Kenny Kadji continues to emerge as a go-to player for the Hurricanes. The 6-foot-11 center has scored in double figures 10 of the last 11 games, including four double-doubles. The return of bulky center Reggie Johnson, the team's leading rebounder, from injury helped Kadji find more room inside. Guard Malcolm Grant, averaging 13.1 points to lead the Hurricanes, registered 16 points in two of his last three games after struggling in early January. Point guard Shane Larkin played 31 minutes Tuesday and had just one turnover.
Boston College Eagles (7-13): The Eagles are experiencing growing pains with nine freshmen on the roster. They are well balanced offensively, but no one is averaging double figures. Freshmen Ryan Anderson and Dennis Clifford have stood out of late. Clifford, a 7-footer, has averaged 10.8 points in ACC play and has shot 63.8 percent from the field his last 11 games. Anderson, a 6-8 forward, has two straight double-doubles and five overall. Freshman Patrick Heckmann scored in double figures eight of his first 13 games, but none in the last six.
1. Miami is 10-1 when either tied or leading at halftime.
2. Six of Boston College’s seven wins have come at home.
3. Miami has won two straight and five of the last seven in the series, but Boston College leads the all-time series 24-13.
BASKETBALL PREDICTION: Hurricanes 78, Eagles 57.
