NCAA Basketball Prediction: Miami Hurricanes vs Florida State Seminoles

Despite its stunning loss to Boston College, No. 17 Florida State Seminoles maintains a share of first place in the ACC. The Seminoles lead the conference in field goal percentage defense (37.4) and steals (8.7). The Seminoles also rank second in the ACC in blocks, averaging six per game, and remain one of the top defensive squads in the NCAA. Miami Hurricanes is third in the conference in 3-point field goals made, averaging 7.4 per game, and is the hottest ACC team with a five-game win streak.

Miami Hurricanes (15-7): After starting conference play at 1-3, the Hurricanes have won five straight to pull within a game of the league leaders. Florida State presents the first of two consecutive opportunities for the ‘Canes to make waves in the ACC, with No. 5 North Carolina next on the schedule. Led by Durand Scott’s 12.6 points per game, Miami has four players averaging 12 or more points, including Kenny Kadji, Malcolm Grant and Reggie Johnson.
Florida State Seminoles (16-7): The Seminoles saw a seven-game win streak snapped at the hands of then-last place Boston College this week, as the Eagles shot 45 percent from beyond the arc. Michael Snaer leads FSU, averaging 13.9 points, while Bernard James chips in 10.3 points per game.
1. Florida State’s defense is ranked in the top 10 nationally in turnovers, blocks and field goal percentage allowed and is 18th in steals.
2. Miami’s five-game ACC win streak is its longest since joining the conference.
3. The Seminoles are outscoring opponents by more than 10 points per game.
