Sunday, January 29, 2012
by Joe Rodriguez
There's no place like home for the Hoosiers. Indiana Hoosiers has lost four of its last five outings with three defeats coming away from Bloomington. Its most recent road loss came in the Kohl Center – the Big Ten's toughest venue – in a 57-50 loss to Wisconsin.
The Indiana Hoosiers are only 3-4 away from home, but 12-1 inside Assembly Hall – a record they hope to add to when they host Iowa. The Hawkeyes haven't had much luck at home or on the road in recent outings.
They have dropped back-to-back games and have only one victory in their last five conference contests. Iowa is fading down the stretch, losing the last two games after leading at the half.
It shot 54 percent from the field in the first half versus Nebraska, but 44 percent in the final 20 minutes. Indiana leads the all-time series 94-73, but the Hawkeyes have won 10 of the last 14 meetings, including four straight.

Justbet Sportsbook currently have the Hoosiers listed as 11-point favorites versus the Hawkeyes.
Iowa Hawkeyes (11-10): A positive note in the Hawkeyes' recent struggles has been the play of forward Zach McCabe. After scoring in double figures five times through the first 19 games, the 6-foot-7 sophomore has posted back-to-back 20-point outings. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery credits McCabe's versatility and a boost in confidence after he had trouble with turnovers in his first year in Iowa.
Indiana Hoosiers (16-5): Coach Tom Crean knows the road has had plenty to do with his team's recent slide. But Crean, wanting to keep things positive, credited his players for stiffening up on defense during this stretch. The Hoosiers have held their last three opponents to less than 40 percent shooting and limited Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor, perhaps the best point guard in the country, to only 10 points and two assists.
1. Iowa gets solid scoring off the bench with the Hawkeyes’ reserve contributing 28 points per game, led by freshman forward Aaron White (9.8).
2. Indiana is 55-28 all-time versus Iowa in Bloomington, but the Hawkeyes have won four of the last seven in Assembly Hall.
3. The Hawkeyes are 2-2 versus ranked opponents this season, shocking No. 11 Wisconsin and No. 13 Michigan.
BASKETBALL PREDICTION: Hoosiers 81, Hawkeyes 68.
